Tic & Tourette Disorders

Tic disorders involve sudden, repetitive movements or vocalizations that are difficult to control. These tics can range from simple, like eye blinking or throat clearing, to complex, such as jumping or repeating phrases. Tourette syndrome is a specific type of tic disorder characterized by multiple motor tics and at least one vocal tic occurring for more than a year. These tics can be disruptive and embarrassing for the individual, often worsening with stress but improving during periods of concentration or relaxation. While there is no cure, many individuals with tic disorders and Tourette syndrome find relief through therapies that manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
