Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD in children and teens typically presents as intrusive, distressing thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) aimed at reducing anxiety. Common obsessions include fears of contamination, harm, or asymmetry. Compulsions might involve excessive hand washing, checking, counting, or arranging objects in a specific way. These behaviors often interfere with daily activities, school performance, and social interactions. Early recognition and treatment are crucial to help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
