Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety in children and teens often presents as excessive worry or fear about various aspects of daily life, such as school, social interactions, physical appearance, or performance. Symptoms can include restlessness, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, irritability, muscle tension, nail biting or skin picking, refraining to speak, and sleep disturbances. Physical signs such as stomach aches, headaches, and rapid heartbeat may also occur. These children might also avoid certain situations, become overly attached, develop specific phobias that may impact their ability to socialize or leave the home, or exhibit perfectionistic tendencies.
